Wake The Fear

from The American Night by WESTBOUND DEPARTURE

/

about

This song makes an allusion to Isaac Asimov's fantastic novel "Nightfall". It's about a planet with six suns that provide constant daylight to the inhabitants. Every two millenia the suns all set at once and the people experience night for the very first time. Madness ensues and brings the end of civilization. Find an old copy at Half-Priced Books to really get the full effect.

lyrics

I need the sun
In my life to live
I fear the nightfall
Will bring about the end
This world I stand on
It will burn again

We can fight the night
And wake the fear
Of all that we have held inside
Cause all we have is rhetoric

I dreamt again
Anticipating death
Out in the ocean
Safely in my bed
The stars above me
Looking down from space
Their gaze will haunt me
Forever scar this place

We can fight the night
And wake the fear
Of all that we have held inside
Cause all we have is rhetoric

Burn Burn
Burn it down for your safety
Burn Burn
Oh the flames of insanity
Burn Burn
You know that it has to
Burn Burn Burn

We can fight the night
And wake the fear
Of all that we have held inside
Cause all we have is rhetoric
